The Clock is Ticking

deathclock.com Web Watch is billed as the radio feature that helps you to find the weird, the wonderful, the useful and the completely bizarre sites that populate this world called the Internet. Looking through the archive I noticed a distinct lack of weird.

If you are of a nervous disposition, or feel that you could croak at any minute, it might be wise to go and make a cup of tea whilst I am on-air today. If you are determined to listen, it may be a good idea to read the following quote from George Bernard Shaw... it may help!

"Life does not cease to be funny when people die
any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."

I am now going to tell you when you are going to die.

Shocking news. To be honest, I am actually going to tell you about a web site that claims to tell you when you are going to die. I cannot vouch for it's accuracy, I will have to wait until Tuesday, May 20, 2059 to do that. But I have to say that I am quite happy that I will reach the grand age of 94. Still, at the time of writing, I am dismayed to be told that I have just 1,659,538,015 seconds to live. I have so much to do - I must go back to the My 50 Things web site!

If you have a morbid sense of curiousity, or a somewhat black sense of humour then take a look at this site. All you have to do to identify your fateful day is type in your birthday, describe your basic nature in one word, work out your BMI and click on your destiny.

If the news isn't good, you can always spend a precious few seconds browsing through the death-related quotes from a broad range of sources including William Shakespeare, Woody Allen, Dorothy Parker and Friedrich Nietzsche.

"It costs me never a stab nor squirm
To tread by chance upon a worm.
'Aha, my little dear,' I say,
'Your clan will pay me back one day.'"
Dorothy Parker

"It's not that I'm afraid to die. I just don't want to be there when it happens."
Woody Allen

"One should die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly."
Nietzsche

"Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."
George Bernard Shaw

If the quotes are not enough to cheer you after receiving the bad news then you can get busy increasing your life expectancy by clicking the links to various health web sites featured heavily on the home page.

I think the chap behind this site has a very healthy sense of humour and is destined for a long and happy life!
