Do you know where Madrid is? Can you pinpoint it on a world map? How about if you only have a 40 mile margin for error? I am pretty sure you could have a good stab at it but what about Surabaya in Indonesia? Or Rangoon in Burma and Pyongyang in North Korea? I am guessing, unless you are an expert geographer, that these would be a little trickier.
Worry not because this week's Web Watch is here to help. Geosense.net will really test your geographical knowledge of the world's cities. And, if you don't know already have a sound geographical knowledge, you soon will.
When I first started having a go I was pleasantly surprised by my score. Over the 10 cities I kept my margin of error under 1200 miles (on average, within 120 miles on each city). I think lady lucky was looking after me by presenting more Sydney that Sarajevo and more Vermont that Vladivostok! My second go resulted in a humbling average of 1,200 miles off the target!
This site is completely free and, once you have practiced on your own, you might fancy a bit of competition. If so, you can play alongside other wannabe navigators and see how well you are doing, but be warned, there are some real experts on this site!
Geosense.net is an excellent site. It's educational. It's informative. It's easy to use. And, it's fun. Let me know how you get on...
