Kenton Theatre is the fourth oldest working theatre in the country and is staffed entirely by volunteers. That includes the production of their web site - I think this is a common occurence amongst the local theatres throughout the country. They are run by people who are quite happy to give their time and skills free of charge to ensure that our tradition of amateur dramatics continues.
This web site is simple and effective. All the basics are in evidence. All the information you need to book your seat is there, including the schedule of events and the all important seating plan.
Kenton celebrated its 200th anniversary last year and I know from experience that the work that goes into each production is nothing less than phenomenal.
Coming up they have Lady Windermere's Fan, with all the wit and cynicism that you would expect to find in an Oscar Wilde play heavily in evidence.
If you go to the Kenton Theatre web site, Lady Windermere is listed under 'October' with a click through to the Henley Players web site. The Henley Players are a local am-dram group who have a reputation for putting together an excellent evening's entertainment. The theatre itself is quite lovely but watch out for the ghost... she might just be out to make your evening truly unforgettable!
The Lady Windermere production is followed by visit from Rodney Bewes in "The Diary of a Nobody". You will remember Rodney from the Likely Lads, one of my favourites when I was growing up! He is on at the end of October and, again, you will find all the information you need at www.kentontheare.co.uk.
