Zubka

There's a price on their head!

Do you know anyone looking for a job? Do you think they have good skills? A good attitude? Talent? Intelligence? If the answer is yes to all (or most) of these questions then you may be able to help them out and earn yourself more than a few bob in the process.

I have never been a fan of online networking, or offline for that matter, but this site is definitely worth a mention because it corrects a flaw in the plan of the most other recruitment-based networking sites. It provides a very effective incentive: cold, hard cash.

Zubka.com have sussed out that we all have the potential to be recruitment consultants, and as such we should be rewarded for our hard work. So, to make sure we get our just rewards, this site pays a percentage of between 6-10% to any individual who successfully fills a vacancy with the ideal candidate. Your friend gets a job and you get paid - an excellent idea. If your referral lands themselves a salary of £25,000 your fee is £2,000 and if they earn £55,000 it's £3,600 and so it goes on.

The site is free to join and browse. It doesn't cost you anything to make a 'referral' as the charges are all aimed at the employer. It costs £25 to post a job (less if you buy in to one of the advertising packages available) and 15% of annual salary when an employer offers a candidate a job.

Rather cleverly the site does not deter recruitment agencies, they simply offer to share the rewards. I don't know if you can tell which jobs come via an agency and which come directly from an employer but it shouldn't make any difference to you as a referrer - your rewards remain the same.

Currently, the site has 3,369 referrers and rewards of £382,465 available.

If you know someone looking for a job and you want to refer them, you simply offer their name and email address. You are invited to complete their profile, quite obviously the more information you provide the better the chances of a favourable result. The system then confirms the interest from the referred party and the recommendation is made. Your work here is done so just keep your fingers crossed! Oh and keep an eye on the progress of your friend because you have to email the site to collect your just rewards!

And if you're not sure if Zubka are onto something, a YouGov poll discovered that 62% of Britons had referred someone for a job - I am not sure whether or not the research was conducted in the recruitment industry or not though!

Zubka deserves a pat on the back for both an innovative idea and a very neat web site to go with it. The 'referral industry' is said to be worth over £7.6 billion a year. Zubka are hoping to take their cut in style.
